Deborah Leedy Deborah Leedy has received a Vanguard Plus with 45-location keyguard. She is seven years old and has a diagnosis of Rett Syndrome.
Deborah developed normally until about age one, according to her mother, Donna Leedy. Soon her parents began noticing that their daughter was not attempting to walk or use as many words as their two older children had at that age. At roughly 18 months, Deborah was placed in an early intervention program, where it was believed she could have autism. Soon after, however, Deborah was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome. Deborah attends Oakview Elementary School, where she is enrolled in a program for pervasive developmental disorders and has the assistance of a one-to-one aid. She can now take her Vanguard to school, where her mother Donna is hopeful it can be incorporated into her curriculum. Deborah has two siblings (ages 9 and 10) and a very dedicated mother and father.
